It's Fall, y'all. Which means it is time to get witchy and spooky and Fall-y here in Oklahoma. Did you know that Oklahoma is the site of the last witch killings recorded in the US? This is a story that very few people know. Shanna happened across an old newspaper from the turn of the 20th century and found quite the tale.

The Bodies of Jenna Scott and Michael Swearingin are found in a shallow grave in extremely rural Oklahoma. They're found based on statements from one of the witnesses to their murder... These aren't even the crazy parts of this story. This story takes twists and turns and involves so many people that it is insane.

Brittany Phillips & Samantha Tapp

The murder of Brittany Phillips rocked the city of Tulsa back in 2004. The authorities were sure that the DNA recovered from the crime scene would eventually be the key to solving her rape and murder... however, in 2019 the family got the worst news imaginable: the evidence wasn't related to this crime. Brittany's family needs our help! Samantha Tapp was 16 at the time she was last seen on 10/12/2004 in Burleson, TX. She is missed by her family and may have traveled to Oregon. She also had family here in Oklahoma. This week we have an unsolved homicide from the NE Oklahoma town of Claremore. This is Claremore's oldest unsolved homicide. 
Laura Long was a young, vibrant girl that was murdered in her hometown. There were a lot of shady things that seem to have happened around the investigation of her murder...
Our Hope is that these older unsolved homicides will be solved with advancing DNA technology.

Indian Boarding Schools

It is a dark part of our Nation's history... Boarding schools that housed children who were taken away from their families and forced into manual labor, forced to leave the life they knew behind, and forced to conform to something that was completely foreign to them. 
We at YDFO recognize that we have had the luxury of being comfortable in our ignorance as to how Indigenous and POC's have been dehumanized and exploited throughout our nation's history. We have the opportunity to learn from the past so that it is not repeated.

In part 2, the monster is finally revealed. He is a vile human being who has apparently never known the meaning of consent. He spent his life hurting women and girls, but it takes two law enforcement agencies working in tandem to expose him for the monster that he is. We are happy to say that this case has resolution, however, the families will never get their loved ones back and children were left without mothers.
